Andrew Brown’s Collected Wisdom

I haven’t met designer Andrew Brown yet in real life but he’s another one of my favorite Instagram friends. So I was beyond excited to learn that his Birmingham, Alabama home was just featured in the August 2015 issue of Veranda magazine. And I’m not just saying that because my book Creativity at Work is visible in one of the photos.
One of the reasons I enjoy following Andrew is that he might just travel more than me and I love to follow along on his adventures. As he says in the article, “Travel is a huge source of inspiration. It opens your eyes to so many new things and forces you to look at everything in a different way.” Of course, treasures from those trips have ended up through out his home which is a great example or a space that looks collected rather than decorated. I love when every piece has a story and a memory. Perhaps if I don’t finally meet Andrew in New York or Birmingham, we’ll meet at a foreign flea market some day.

UPDATE: In a funny twist, Andrew happened to be in NYC the day I posted his home. He came to the event I was hosting at Sotheby’s and we were able to meet in person. I can tell you that he is just as nice as I imagined and we’re already scheming how we can shop the Paris flea market together.
