2014 Emmy Red Carpet Recap

08 . 25 . 14Due to a scheduling conflict the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were broadcast on a Monday night which threw everyone off. But luckily the celebrities and their stylists weren’t thrown off. Almost all of the presenters and nominees looked lovely but it was Lizzy Caplan above who stole the show. Lizzy usually plays the comedic sidekick in films and television but it’s her role in Masters of Sex that’s allowing her break out of the shadows. Her Donna Karan dress and slicked back hair were perfect for the red carpet and Los Angeles heat. Definitely keep an eye on her.
Another gorgeous girl with slicked back hair was Allison Williams in Giambattista Valli.
Michelle Dockery took a little bit of a fashion risk in Rosie Assoliin but looked very fresh and modern.
Anna Chlumsky has come along since My Girl and looked amazing in white Zac Posen and slicked back hair. Notice a theme?
Michelle Monaghan also looked great in white Giambattista Valli.
Kristen Wiig looked like she walked off the beach and into her white Vera Wang dress and I mean that in a good way.
I have no idea who Taylor Schilling is or what she stars in but I love her in this Zuhair Murad sparkly dress.
I don’t think I’ve seen a chicer baby bump in an evening gown than on Hayden Panettiere in Lorena Sarbu.
I don’t know who makes Amy Poehler’s sparkly dress but I like it.
Kiernan Shipka is al growned up and looking gorgeous in very fashion forward Antonio Berardi. Love it!
This is probably the best Heidi Klum has ever looked on the red carpet and she had her date Zac Posen to thank for it.
Red was a popular color on the red carpet and I thought Octavia Spencer was one of the best dressed in Tadashi Shoji.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus just keeps getting better and also looked amazing in red Carolina Herrera.
Another lady in red was Claire Danes in Givenchy. A little on the fence about the collar which is attached to the dress but she still looks great.
I thought Debra Messing also looked fashion forward and modern in Angel Sanchez compared to all the frothy gowns.
Lena Headey from Game of Thrones looked like she was channeling Angelina Jolie in her black Rubin Singer dress. I think even Cersei Lannister would be impressed.
I’m not sure who’s styling Sarah Silverman these days but they also deserve an award for putting her in fashionable Marni.
Natasha Leone is an odd bird but she looked great in custom Opening Ceremony. I like tea length on her.
Everyone joked that Julia Roberts is the new Beyonce as she walked the red carpet last and in short and sparkly Elie Saab that showed off her very tan and toned legs. Note to self: sign up for a personal trainer tomorrow!
Seth Meyers looks very dapper in Valentino with his wife Alexi Ashe in J. Mendel and was an excellent host.
I’m sure I missed a few and as usual I prefer to focus on the good than the bad but all in all it was a very good night for fashion. Who was your favorite?
