The Fashion Fund

01 . 28 . 14It’s so cold that there really isn’t much to do but stay in and watch television. If that’s your plan, I suggest checking out The Fashion Fund on Ovation. The six episode documentary follows the Vogue CFDA Fashion Fund 2013 applicants from the process of applying to the 10 finalists competing for the coveted top three spots. It started last week but you can watch that one online before the next episode on Wednesday night at 10:00pm. It’s not quite as compelling as the original Fashion Fund documentary Seamless from 2005 but it’s still pretty interesting.

After catching “Seamless” one night on IFC (or was it Sundance?) in 2005, I spent the next few weeks sending cover letters and resumes to the designers featured in the doc. As a senior in college, I knew I wanted to be a part of the fashion world and, by a stroke of luck, I received an internship and (later) a position at Peter Som.
The point to this story: highly-talented young designers deserve all the support in the world. The fashion business is a hard one and financial guidance and mentoring are critically important for these new companies to thrive.
Heather I love to see creativity at work! It is sooo important to support artists of all genres..adore the green print by Misha Nonoo.
