James Nares for Coach Totes
by habituallychic
04 . 20 . 12Long time readers will remember my affinity for the work of artist James Nares. I first wrote about him in 2007 and again last year. So when Coach asked if I would like to visit his studio and see the new limited edition bags he designed for them, I immediately asked when and where. I’ve dreamed of the day when I can afford one of paintings and now I can. The new James Nares for Coach totes are created from one long piece of heavy canvas so his signature brush stroke paintings are not broken up by a two seams. The short leather handles are stamped with his name but there is also a convenient shoulder strap. The hardest part will be choosing one of the five colors and deciding whether you actually want to use it or just hang it up and look at it. I think might need to buy two.

How gorgeous and what a wonderful idea. wonder how much they cost and if they are available in the uk.
those are beautiful, but whatever is up with coach and $800 bags. i understand the need to “upgrade,” but it seems this would alienate their primary target market (or make them buy fewer bags to get one expensive one).
if the price were a little more appealing (and it was a true limited edition), i would be tempted…but i think i’ll stick with marc jacobs and furla for now.

Love Nare’s art and the bags are wonderful!! That collection of brushes is a wow! Great studio space!
I would choose the red/orange palette for the bag!

To have been in his studio space .. what an honour, a great artist. The bags are beautiful … I hope you are able to treat yourself to one soon. I’d have to see them in person but I leaning towards the green one 🙂
wow WOW the intersection where fashion and art meet. Beauty and function are one.
