Winter is Coming

Some of you will take a look at these photos and think I’ve completely lost my marbles.  Others of you who have seen Game of Thrones on HBO will immediately understand.  I only just saw season one a few weeks ago during a marathon but was instantly hooked.  I had to watch the episodes a few times to figure out who was related to whom and why they all wanted to kill each other.  One good thing about being late to the game (pun intended) is that I have a shorter time to wait until the Season 2 premier on Sunday, April 1st.

Game of Thrones is described as an American medieval fantasy television series based on George R. R. Martin‘s best-selling series of fantasy novels, A Song of Ice and Fire, the first of which is called A Game of Thrones. What I love most is that film most everything on location in places such as BelfastNorthern IrelandMaltaCroatia and Iceland. There is no CGI green screen animation going on so the show actually feels real and is incredibly gripping.  I highly recommend watching the behind the scenes footage available on HBO On Demand to learn more or to watch season one if you haven’t already.  And get ready, “winter is coming.”

I don’t think you’ve lost your marbles at all – this show has given hubby and I date nights without having to leave the living room. The books were just as amazing and I highly recommend discovering them at your library today. The HBO show is a testament to the genius of David Benioff (married to Amanda Peet and writer of several fab books – my fave is “City of Thieves”). Sorry for rambling – but I’m so happy to find a fellow Thrones fan!

I’m glad you shared these great images with us since 1) I don’t have HBO so wasn’t clued in (I guess I’ll have to rent them on Netflix and 2) my 14-year-old son is loving the books and now I can relate! Cheers, Cynthia

You’re not crazy at all. Game of Thrones is amazing. Have you read the books? They will transport you. And how wonderful is Tyrion? He’s one of my favorites. I think I’ll end all of my emails with that warning: Winter is coming!

I love and hate this post. The hate is only because I am dying waiting for April 1st and this has brought it to the forefront again! I am such a nerd, I love this show so much (so much I actually made a few art pieces and hung them up. Yeah yeah, I know). I read the first book but refuse to read anymore yet because the show is amazing and I don’t want to compare the two. Not yet anyway 😉

Looks like a great one to watch with my fantasy loving daughters! Thanks for the tip. (I don’t mean to be griping, but I think you meant “gripping”).

I was just thinking about doing a post on Game of Thrones; I have been waiting forever for season 2. I am so excited for it!! Even though it will mean my spring break is over, I can’t wait for winter to get here!

I too thought I’d lost my marbles when I sat down to watch season 1 with my guy but I soon found myself addicted to the show. My only peeve is the gratuitous nudity. I’m not a prude, but it seems like someone shows their t*tt*es in every single episode. I guess that’s to make us forget all the blood and guts.

I bought my first home on a Friday afternoon at 3:30 in March 2012. From 3:30-7:00 I saw 6 different contractors including Chris from Eye 4 Designz. Chris’ vision was very contemporary and opened my kitchen and dining room and even had a plan to design a gym in my basement from the start. I went w Chris Steinbrunn cause his passion was very contagious!!! Because I work full time and am a personal trainer and fitness model I have no time so Chris went shopping for me and picked Everything out for my house. In only 2 1/2 weeks he had transformed my house into a home. He even designed an accent wall in my gym area and painted it purple(my company color), and even put my logo and branding on the wall and gave that to me as a GIFT! What a designer but what a GUY!
