Mellow Yellow
by habituallychic
01 . 09 . 12Even though Pantone has declared Tangerine Tango the color for 2012, I still think yellow is going to be just as big. From shades resembling an egg yolk to pale lemon, it’s bright and cheerful yet chic. Yellow and black usually reminds me of a bubble bee or Steelers uniform, but it’s starting to grow on me. I also love it with pale grey and you can’t go wrong mixing it with blue. It seems a great harbinger of spring and forsythia. Take that orange.

I prefer yellow…it brightens rather than shouts! I still regret not buying a yellow vintage Moynat trunk in Paris two years ago. Would have made great coffe table.
Heather I agree, yellow will be favored along with Tangerine( which I like in a toned down version as well) Great images and I see a book I am putting on my Kindle list. Windsor Style!

I definitely agree with you, I think this sunny yellow is here to stay for the next year. It is too happy and fun a colour to wear, so I think alot of people will still be wearing it. Great photos btw. Can`t help but be in a good mood after looking at all these yellow photos.

I’ve always loved the way sharp yellow works with grey… though the interiors that work best seem to have to be ruthlessly edited.
Thanks too for the image of the Joan Mitchell book – that’s going on my got-to-read list.
You DO have a golden eye! Ilove this post. Don’t you think yellow is too happy and optimistic to be ignored? 2012 NEEDS this sunshine-y color~
🙂

You state a strong case for yellow!
My favorite from this awesome collection is the Great Catsby book cover, so clever!
Oh dahhling I must say that I found your yellows so decadent!
I enjoy your blog so much. I have got my sister in India hooked on your blog as well!
I have an old chair which I reupholstered in a yellow fabric from Maharam-it brightens the room so much. When in doubt, go for color!
yellow makes everything so cheerful, it’s the best.
Oh – Fancy That.
Hi Heather, Thanks for the wake-up shot in the arm. I needed those yellows this morning. Mary
Morning, from the West Coast! I love your blog and follow every day. You always inspire me!!! But this is too funny. Yesterday, I worked on a post for my blog today – Sunkist Yellow! I agree with you! Yellow is going to be a strong contender next to Tangereine! I’ve been seeing it everywhere! LOve the color! And…you rock!
Have a fabulous day!!!
You totally hit the nail on the head with this one! I too agree that yellow has a significant place in interiors this season. I do love the “POP” of Tangerine Tango, but vibrant yellow will definitely have it’s place!
Love these compilation posts of yours!
I love your color focus. Makes me spot a color in my world…. it’s fun to see how often it pops out.
There’s something so exciting about yellow especially when you cluster all these photos together. They’re all different in so many ways but the common thread of yellow is fabulous!

So love yellow. Just used it on the front door of a restaurant project & it turned out awesome! It’s always the perfect pop. Pretty pics! Thx.
I have to agree with you. I’ve been feeling a lot more inspired with yellow tones

Hi Heather,
Thank you for your wonderful and inspiring blog! I just adore the yellow trousers in the photo with the man and the brown bag, where can they be purchased? Thank you in advance!
