The End of an Era
by habituallychic
12 . 17 . 10I was a little shocked to hear this morning that Carine Roitfeld, the editor in chief of French Vogue, will leave the magazine at the end of January. She’s started her career as a model and later stylist for Tom Ford among others. She’s been with French Vogue for ten years and says she has nothing else planned yet. She will definitely be missed at the fashion shows since she has such amazing personal style. I especially love that her skirt hems hover around the knee instead of the thigh like many fashionistas. I’ve also never seen anyone look chicer in a jacket. For a fun look inside her world, check out the Carine Roitfeld Revealed video on CNN. Bonne Chance Carine!

So much style and talent!
Life is like that… we need to move on when the moment is right. That makes us grow. Maybe she and the magazine need the change and growth.
Btw, if you can, take a look at my post today. I’m posting about a very talented photographer.
Have a blessed weekend!

Wow, I’m shocked. She oozes Chic and is one of my icon. Loves that she proves that one can be beautiful and sexy as one ages. I’m interested to see what’s next for her.
Have a lovely weekend.

I had heard for a while that she was leaving, I guess there is truth to rumour.
An individual such as Carine cannot come and go easily without there being applause or void; will be interesting to see where all this leads ~~~
I enjoy the blog, I want to be a Roitfeld.
Many change ups in the magazine industry….lately.
An interesting move, maybe she is hiding her royal flush?
Good luck to new endeavors….

Great post — surprising news, but in this age of media madness, perhaps to be expected after a decade.
You’re right, she does work a jacket and pencil skirt like no one’s business 😉
Cheers, Alcira

She’s gorgeous. Maybe life’s journey is calling to her. Staying stuck is usually not the way to sample all of what there is to experience. Mary
I hope all goes well for her- she is quite an icon, would be interesting to see what her next move will be.But I was sad when I heard she was leaving…
She does have impeccable style.
I want to be her when I grow up..her style is fabulous….she’ll show up somewhere else..
Carine is so fabulous…it’s hard to believe that this is the absolute end for her. I bet she has something grand in store in the very near future.

She is actually elegant, as you pointed out, which is increasingly rare. I do find her a little annoying because she’s so ubiquitous, but she does have great style, and takes more risks with French Vogue than Wintour does with American Vogue.
I’m sooooo glad she is leaving! Maybe I will be able to buy Vogue again in the future. 10 years without Vogue is a long time!
