Luckily, I managed to get out and take some photos of the wonderful holiday decorations on the Upper East Side before I became an incubus of viral plague.  New Yorkers really know how to go all out.  Enjoy!

I learned something from this as I’m about to make a wreath—they don’t exist here in Italy where I live and so I’m left with making one myself. Great photography here. Admiringly, Paul Gervais

I know what this entailed…I did the same for Halloween! No question there’s nothing like Christmas in New York, especially on the UES. Thanks for the memories. Merry Christmas!

So trad, that’s where we spent our honeymoon 12 years ago – everyone thought we were mad not flying off to a warm country but NYC – the Upper East Side, is stunning at this time of year.

Lovely! So tasteful. I’m going to add to the earlier praise of the chartreuse door! That’s going in my inspiration file.

They’re all so beautiful!! There’s nothing like New York City at Christmastime. I love the way the entire city gets into the spirit of the season!!

Great pictures. I was walking around NYC over the weekend and forgot my camara. I also love how they decorate the little streets down in the village. Love your blog. Happy Holidays,

Great tour, thanks! I love the window box on the house with 22 on it…they are all marvelous! It’s nice to know that even “city dwellers” appreciate the beauty nature can add! Love all the beautiful shaped doors too and entrances…nice to see good details like that.

I think that would make a darling coffee table book – the doors of Manhattan! Love all your photos!

You managed to photograph my families home in NYC. I just got back from there so the memory will last longer since I forgot to photograph it! I won’t mention which one, only that you captured it so beautifully! Your blog always makes me smile and I am so inspired!

    Happy Holidays!

Hi Heather, I hope that you are feeling better. If you can get some one to bring you green tea capsules (500 mg) and cinnamon capsules (and take a lot of them)–they really help. xoMary

I love that you actually went out and took your own photos instead of just copy and pasting ones from online! If that isn’t a good blogger, I don’t know what is!

I just stumbled across your blog for the first time and thought I would say hello! I looked through a few of your posts and love your style. Love the name of your blog too, by the way.

I’m a blogger as well, about the world of art, but my history is in interior design and fashion. I love to hear what people are saying! Hope we get to see more of each other in the future.

Beautiful! However, now I’m feeling as if my home is a little “under dressed” for the holidays! 😉
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Heather!

The best Christmas post ever! A trip down memory lane. I grew up on E 81st @ Madison and it’s still my favorite part of the city. What a treat! Happy Holidays!

I love it! I did a similar post (up today) on Boston. Merry! Merry!

“All out” is the suburban dad decking every square inch of the siding in lights, with animatronics on the lawn… comparatively NYC is classy and very self-restrained. And beautiful.

  32. Sarah December 23, 2010 | 5:40 pm

I love pictures of people’s Christmas decorations! I did a post on the decorations of the little shops in my town (Alexandria, VA), too. Very different from the Upper East Side but Christmas decor looks good everywhere!!
