Elegant Holiday Inspiration

When I was looking for examples of holiday decorating last week, I came across this elegant example.  The home is owned by a Canadian lawyer, Luce Gayrard, who also has a penchant for decorating.  It is located outside Montreal and was featured in the November 2008 issue of Canadian House & Home. I never met a French piece of furniture I didn’t love so I fell for the decor immediately as well as the simple holiday decorations.  It might have just been styled this way for the shoot but I like the sense of restraint.  I’m currently trying to decorate my apartment for Christmas and this home is my inspiration.  Happy Holidays!

Very beautiful and understated, although leave it to me to sit on that red chair and obliterate all three balls thinking they were clever faux pillows!

I love the understated decorations, also. This home is already so beautifully rich and festive that it doesn’t require much to turn it into the perfect Holiday House. Beautiful–love the paintings and what the gold leafed frames bring to the rooms, in addition to the rich velvets and toiles. Mary

I remember this home in H&H magazine and also used it as an inspiration for holiday decorating. I have found that using live greens is so simple, beautiful and easy on the pocket book. Magnolia, cedar, boxwood, bare branches and large pincones are some of my favourites. You can mix in candles and a few gorgeous balls and it’s simply beautiful.

Heather, I know from experience that it takes a lot of discipline to blog daily. You succeed in creating an inspiring and beautiful moment for many each and every day. Thank you!
