A Fashionably Chic Retreat

I think there is a misconception that New Yorkers only go to the Hamptons in the summer.  While the Hamptons are lovely during the warmer months, they can be even better in the fall and winter when the crowds have left.  If Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and her family don’t spend weekends at their place on the North Shore year round, they really should.  There was a great article in the October issue of The World of Interiors about how they renovated an additional house on an adjoining property they purchased.  Interior designer Jesse Carrier and landscape designer Miranda Brooks decorated the new house and tamed land to better enjoy the out of doors.  Again, I think all creative people thrive when they have a place to recharge their batteries every weekend so it seems no wonder that Anna Wintour has been at Vogue for over 20 years.

We definitely escape out east on the weekends in the fall, winter, and spring! Unfortunately, there are a lot of older homes out east that were built to be summer homes, and many of them have not been updated and winterized. Which is to say, there is no heat or insulation!

That home is amazing!! The 5th room down, the bathroom and master bedroom…. LOVE. I’d be fine with just those three spaces. I certainly would feel recharged too if that was my “get-a-way” spot!

Thanks for the great post and the additional pictures- I love Anna Wintour’s taste- and still treasure the World of Interiors issue of a few years back in which her other place in the Hamptons was featured.I thought ,by the way, that she came across totally OK although maybe slightly intimidating in “The September Issue”- in fact I have had way scarier bosses than her!!Hahahaha!!

There you go! You just added what we needed! A cozy, beautiful and inspiring home. The location doesn’t hurt either. 😉

    Thanks, Heather!

Lovely photos. And this is one of the nicest times of year in the Hamptons. Quiet, cost and, as always, gorgeous.
