I happened to be perusing the books at the Rizzoli store recently and instantly fell in love with Life and Work: Malene Birger’s Life in Pictures.  I wasn’t familiar with Ms. Birger but she is a famous fashion designer in Copenhagen, Denmark who has had her own line since 2003.  I was happy to find out that her fashions on Net-a-Porter, are very affordable and wearable.  What really impressed me though are her gorgeous homes.  The book is filled with images of her down to earth Danish decorating style and fabulous artwork.  Her home in Copenhagen (seen here) is eclectic yet elegant and completely befitting a chic fashion designer.  It’s quickly become one of my all time favorites and will probably become one of yours.  Enjoy!

Bring Birger on. I love anything Rizzoli and I can tell from the cover alone that this tome is a must-have.
I love the muted palettes and organic touches, very boho luxe.

I was told, while in the CPH store, that soon she will be launching her own website, so we will all be able to purchase her close and accessories straight from the source 🙂

    Love her home.

Her home office was inspiration for my home office redecoration (even though ended up with a quite different style)

Two things that really stood out were the ironwork (?) ceiling detail (photo 7) in the dining room and her use of ottomans for side tables in the bedroom. I thought they were unusual ideas that looked great.

The other thing that was really cool was that these were great looking rooms and you can see where IKEA has tried to reproduce some of the styles – especially the idea of the wall mounted shelves to display her art and the funky light fixture with the black shades in the office.

Those lamps make you realize that you can put in ceiling fixtures without putting in major electrical work and they will still look great – they look like they plug into the wall somewhere.

Thanks for this peek into Ms. Birger’s home!

I love her clothes – and so does the “upper class”.What made her really popular is the super chic (and popular) crown princess of Denmark. She wears a lot of Birger’s clothes and they are always so stylish. Therefore not surprised to hear and see how stylish and elegant her homes are. Thanks for posting them! They inspire me as well.
