Summer Rerun
by habituallychic
06 . 30 . 10I’m busy working today and trying to get through a thousand annoying emails so I’m posting an oldie but a goodie from 2008. This fabulous house in the Hamptons used to belong to Steven Gambrel before friends of LA designer Ruthie Sommers bought it and asked her to decorate the place. I love the colors and casual feeling which is perfect for a house near the beach. It was published in House Beautiful so you can read more about the details online. Enjoy!

I love the oversized print on the rug in the first couple of pictures! Quite fab!

Beautiful home. I’m always attracted to the cool vibe of beach houses. Somehow they’re both simple, yet cozy. Love!

Still love it and am using the kitchen image as inspiration for a kitchen I am designing.
OMG that’s my living room rug! Love it!
What a cheery and relaxing space! I could definitely spend my summer in that house! -loveofinteriors
exactly what a beach house should look like … wonder if they’d mind a few guests?
Everything is so crisp and lively. This home beckons relaxation. Lovely!
Oldie but goodie indeed! The bedroom have been saved in my inspiration files since it was published..love Ruthie and that is used to be Gambrel’s!

Ruthie’s colors and patterns plus her choices of high and low never seem to go out of fashion. Great “oldie”.
I think my favorite piece is the “wake” or kitchen table in the master bedroom. Thanks for the great “oldie”–Mary
What great spaces. I’m loving all the blue but then again I seem to be attracted to that colour above all others xx
When done right, it never goes out of style! I just happened upon your blog because I was looking for pictures of James Nares images and another oldie but goodie posts of yours showed up on my screen 🙂 I love your content! Congrats on your success as a designer, it’s well earned and deserved I’m sure!
Still lovely after all these years. The blue hallway still knocks my socks off.
Thanks for the memories.
Timeless design–Ruthie is a genius.
Yes this is a goodie indeed, and I am particularly thrilled over the blue crab in the kitchen.
Happy summer to you!
