Media Room Review

Many of us spent this rainy Sunday watching movies and The Hills marathon on MTV. How much more enjoyable would it have been if Heidi and Spencer weren’t so annoying or if we had fabulous media rooms in which to vegetate. In New York, media rooms do double duty as a place to watch TV and house books, like Nate Berkus’ apartment above, which is why so many of them incorporate built-ins. Not all of these rooms house a television but their shelves are still inspiring. I especially love the dark lacquered rooms but the light coral/orange room that Katie Ridder designed is pretty darn fabulous! Sitting in a room that pretty would definitely make bad TV seem better! Enjoy!

Ooo I totally want to cozy up in the Peter Dunham room. And that room isn’t very “me” at all. What material are the couches upholstered in!? How cozy!

Settling in to watch Crazy Heart right now. : ) Boy do I love Redbox.

Love these media rooms, I think one of the running themes that really attracts me is the dark walls! Very media-room appropriate!

I had a hard time focusing on the shelving with all the other design elements to look at. I’m seeing lots of teal blues and oranges which I love…interesting, comfy chairs and really great rugs! So much to look at. Thanks for sharing, Heather!

I think it says a lot for all of these designers that I would happily take any of these rooms! They all seem to join comfort, texture, color that make spending time in them so relaxing. Great collection of photos!

Brilliant post! Having just finished a modest project of this nature, I appreciate your wonderful collection of so many fabulous media rooms that incorporate a library and “reading room” feel. Thanks so much.
