Michael Kors at Home

A lot of creative types who work with color and pattern all day say that they like to come home to more neutral and clean environment so I wonder if that is the reason behind why both Donna Karan and Michael Kors live in black and white apartments. There is something kind of soothing about all that open space and lack of clutter. It reminds me also of Michael’s fashion style which is also clean even when it’s over the top glamorous as was the case with his Fall 2010 collection! It looks like those images of Lisa Taylor and Lauren Hutton on his mood inspired a fabulous fashion show so definitely check that out too!

He has a lot of beautiful things but I think there are some scale/proportion issues here. It isn’t really balanced.

I love the dark back splash in the white kitchen though!

I don’t recall seeing Michael’s home before but it is exactly what I would imagine..sophisticated. After a long day of sensory overload, I too love to come home to a neutral palatte and a clean home.

Thanks Heather for sharing all of these great posts inspired by Fashion Week. They are fab!

Yum… lots of my favorite modernist pieces all in one place! I’d love to come home to that!

Ohhhh I absolutelly LOVEEEE Michael Kors and it’s nice to see his apartment. I like it. It gives me the sense of home, like he really lives there. Because very often when it comes to editorials made of celebrities’ homes, the houses have too much of that “straight-from-the-catalog” look. This one not. Super!thanks;)

Michael’s apartment reminds me a lot of his personal style. He’s said on Project Runway before that while he loves creating unique pieces, he’s more comfortable in something simple at his age. It looks like his apartment definitely matches his clothing choices.

I agree Heather; coming back to a classic clean home after a hectic day at work surely help Michael unwind. Very chic.

Thanks for sharing photos of his home. I can only imagine how hectic his days are, and it makes sense his sanctuary (his home) would be calming. I really am enjoying your theme this week!

This is definitely the design style that I thought when Michael Kors pops into my head. It is so beautiful and the console with the mirror and two ottomans underneath it is my favorite!

I die for the first picture. Such a great, sophisticated, and simple entry way.

Love Michael Kors! Especially having watched him on Project Runway!

Hi, I am totally hooked on Habitually Chic and love reading your posts!

I have to say though, that Michael Kors taste for fur is really quite passe’ and totally uncool. There is nothing pleasing about looking at pieces of dead animals dotted throughout his rooms.

oh goodness. That’s beautiful. I always say I want a house like that, but then I keep buying things with color!!! I might go crazy in a black and white house. Though it is gorgeous.

Michael Kors seems like an exceptionally simple guy – he always dons the same thing when judging Project Runway – so this isn’t surprising! Love it!

    So very Michael Kors …
True to my expectations of what his home would feel like.

    What a clean restful palatte?

I love every bit of his space. I’m especially fond of his horizontal blinds with tabs. And it makes me feel better to know both Michael and DK live in neutral spaces. Guests are confused when they enter my all-gray apartment. I work with color all day, and love it. But when I come home my eyeballs and brains need a break.

I love this man! I mean LOVE him! Honestly this isn’t what I pictured his home looking like! Don’t get me wrong, his aesthetic is spot on, just not what I had in mind for him. 🙂
