The Young Victoria

I’m looking forward to having some time off at the holidays so I can see all the wonderful films that are being released this month. At the top of my list now is The Young Victoria which tells the story of Queen Victoria’s accession to the thrown, her turbulent early reign and her enduring romance with Prince Albert. The film contains an all star cast including Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend, Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson, and Jim Broadbent. Julian Fellowes who also wrote one of my favorites, Gosford Park, wrote the screenplay so I can already tell that I am going to love this period piece! Cheers!

Movies are such a respite from the Holiday Madness.I love period films and the settings, attire etc. By the way,if you have not seen Wicked, the lighting and costumes would definitely blow you away!

This look like a visual delight, much as I found Marie Antoinette to be. Granted, I’m sure the tone of the film will be quite different, I’m a sucker for the cinematography. Thank you for the eye candy!

  11. A dear friend of mine saw an advance screening of this and rang me with tears in his voice at having to write a review for what he call, ‘history gone awry,’ and now I can hardly wait to see it.
    Warmest regards,
    Simone

Hello! I loved this post! I am crazy over period piece movies. I have watched many. I love to buy them and watch them over from year to year. My Mom and I also lend them back and forth.

Check out my post called “Time For My Drama Marathon” on my blog, Living It At Home, where I list all my favorites (there are still more). Every once and awhile, I have to get my dose of drama! I have just been watching “LarkRise To Candleford”, BBC production. It is great!

    Have fun!

This film was released in the UK this past Spring and I bought the DVD over the summer and have watched it countless times. The first time I watched it, with a friend, we started it again when it ended. FABULOUS.

    Regards,
