The Young Victoria
12 . 12 . 09
I’m looking forward to having some time off at the holidays so I can see all the wonderful films that are being released this month. At the top of my list now is The Young Victoria which tells the story of Queen Victoria’s accession to the thrown, her turbulent early reign and her enduring romance with Prince Albert. The film contains an all star cast including Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend, Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson, and Jim Broadbent. Julian Fellowes who also wrote one of my favorites, Gosford Park, wrote the screenplay so I can already tell that I am going to love this period piece! Cheers!
She is so lucky to wear such fun garb.
I can’t wait to catch up on some movies as well…I still haven’t seen Julie and Julia, The Blind Side and the list goes on. I will have to add Young Victoria to my list!
I’m putting this one on my list too. Thanks for the post.

Movies are such a respite from the Holiday Madness.I love period films and the settings, attire etc. By the way,if you have not seen Wicked, the lighting and costumes would definitely blow you away!
Yay, I love Gosford Park too! This is sure to be great. Thanks for the tip : )
i too am so excited to see this! you’re definitely a girl after my own heart!

LOVE period pieces, and will probably love this one too! Can’t wait!! (no movies for me for a while though, have a 3 week old infant at home :))
Movie heaven between Christmas and New Years…..I have it all planned. Victoria is at the top, great photos. Can’t wait.
This movoe is also on my list!
Have a nice weekend!
This look like a visual delight, much as I found Marie Antoinette to be. Granted, I’m sure the tone of the film will be quite different, I’m a sucker for the cinematography. Thank you for the eye candy!
A dear friend of mine saw an advance screening of this and rang me with tears in his voice at having to write a review for what he call, ‘history gone awry,’ and now I can hardly wait to see it.
Ohhh I love Emily Blunt! She’s a great ctress in my opinion.. I haven’t seen the film yet, I think it’s going to be tonight’s choice. Definitely;)
Going to the movies is the only way that I can truly separate myself from this big, bad, great world!
I will add this to my list. Gosford Park is also a favorite og mine.
HANE A GREAT DAY!
Hello! I loved this post! I am crazy over period piece movies. I have watched many. I love to buy them and watch them over from year to year. My Mom and I also lend them back and forth.
Check out my post called “Time For My Drama Marathon” on my blog, Living It At Home, where I list all my favorites (there are still more). Every once and awhile, I have to get my dose of drama! I have just been watching “LarkRise To Candleford”, BBC production. It is great!
Check out number four eleven’s recent post on rooms decorated in colors to match their outfits in the movie. It is great!
Saw this back in November at the Savannah Film Festival. Loved it! You will too. Visually stunning.
I knew nothing about this film, but it looks fabulous. Thank you for the great tip (like many others)!
This film was released in the UK this past Spring and I bought the DVD over the summer and have watched it countless times. The first time I watched it, with a friend, we started it again when it ended. FABULOUS.
I reeeaaallllly want to see this but I don’t think its coming to a theater near me!
