Have a Witty Holiday!
by habituallychic
11 . 17 . 09Call me old fashioned but I usually like to digest my turkey and pumpkin pie before I can even start to think about Christmas. But since the holiday windows in New York are starting to be unveiled, I figure I have to get over it and start posting them! Simon Doonan, the Creative Director of Barneys is wishing everyone a witty holiday to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Saturday Night Live. The Coneheads window is my personal favorite!
“I can’t wait for this recession to be over – it’s such a drag. I’m not one of those people who thinks it’s brought us to our higher level of consciousness. I just think it’s a colossal bore. But boom times or bad times, my job is to create desire.” – Simon Doonan in Departures

Yeah! I am so glad you posted these. I always look forward to seeing the NYC store windows through your lens since I can’t be there in person. That said, this might not be my favorite set of windows of the season…
These are indeed wonderful windows!
I think we all need some humor in this recession time!
Thanks for sharing!

I was just reading about Simon in the new Elle Decor last evening. I luv the windows, always a fresh approach to designing. I am headed up that way in a bit; I must check out the windows in person.

I agree! We all need to embrace positive thinking and doing positive things. Everything will improve faster if we allow it! Love the humor of the windows!

From those of us who won’t be able to make it up to the city for the holidays (we picked summer this year so our toddler could take advantage of the parks – no complaints!) many thanks, and please post more.
Doonan is such a creative genius! The Coneheads window is hysterical and so very witty. Love these. Will have to see them in person between now and New Years!
