Bergdorf Goodman Holiday Windows 2009
The Bergdorf Goodman holiday windows were still being “tweaked” tonight according to the man in charge David Hoey who I ran into when I was there to photograph them. They looked pretty great to me and I thanked David for always putting together the best windows! The theme this year is “Curiousier and Curiousier” which is inspired by Lewis Carroll and his works Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. You can already see that they swapped out the dog for a parrot in the fantasy library made out of paper. I think my favorite is the birds eye view of the red room with the king and queen playing chess and other games. The room is turned on its side and the details are exquisite! You have to wonder how they glued it all down! I also love the Victorian themed window that looks like a Valentine card and includes a Cheshire cat! The window filled with staircases was inspired by Alice in Wonderland and is entitled “Drink Me.” The all mirror and glass covered silver window was of course inspired by Through the Looking Glass and reflects all the lights of Fifth Avenue. They are all amazing and even the four windows around the corner depicting animals continue the fantasy! I hope those of you who can make it to New York will stop by and see them for yourself and for those of you who can’t, these photos are my present to you! Happy Holidays!
These windows are so creative, it’s amazing. Congratulations to the Bergdorf visual team for a job well done!!
Thanks for the gift, Heather!
Wonderful. Thank you for sharing. Always a Christmas must.
Bergdorf’s windows have always been a visual treat. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Interesting stuff. So much, hard to visualize. I suppose you need a reference and walk around the building and be a bit chilly and take it all in from up close, to across the street. Overwhelming with stories, glam, mystery, and interesting items.
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you…I am very happy to take a peak from here although I would much rather see them in person…xv
I’ll be in New York thru Christmas and will see these – always a treat. And you’re right, these windows are the best – no others compare.
wow, just gorgeous! I wish I could see them in person.
Spectacular as always, thanks so much for sharing with those of us not in the city. LOVE the green horses and the red birdcages…magical;)
Wonderful surprise. I won’t be getting to NYC before Christmas so thank you for providing these fabulous views in your blog. Happy Holidays!

I can’t believe I missed the unveiling when we were there this past weekend.
Thanks for posting the photos — so creative!
Always a holiday must-see! The creativity is just outstanding. Thanks for sharing these! I can’t even begin to think of the hours that went into the planning and execution.
Bergdorf’s should publish a book about the behind the scenes activities over the years in preparing for Christmas.
Thank you for sharing these! We have nothing like this in North Carolina. Thanks for sharing the amazing things you see in your travels… That does make me thankful.

In college, I worked in Visual display at a store and let me tell you, it is not for the weak – nor the timid.
Wow, those are amazing, my husband told me all about them, as he works at no.9 w. 57.
I am so jealous, he spotted Cameron Diaz the other day and tells me of the fashions…
