Summertime Blues
by habituallychic
06 . 11 . 09I feel like all it’s done in New York lately is rain so all I can think about is the beach and summer. That’s probably why this house in Southampton designed by Markham Roberts is one of my new favorites. I love all the shades of blue and accents of green mixed with the natural elements such as the raffia wallcovering. Even the beachy accents are more interesting than most. I think it’s a really lovely and relaxing looking beach house. Too bad that the weather isn’t lovely too!

That raffia wall covering is just stunning! What a fabulous collection of photos – one our favourites too, the banquette! Thank you
It has not rained here in Southern California, but June Gloom is in full effect! I am living at the beach daydreaming of the same beach house that you have posted! I wish I was there!

Gorgeous and if it is any consolation it is raining again today in SW France……….

These summer decors are an absolute delght for the eyes. This beach house is cool and beautiful in South Hampton. Love the light shades of Blues.
The raffia walls are amazing…. and I love the collection of botanical prints in the hallway.
Divine! This is how to do traditional design in the 21st century: great furniture and accessories, texture, gentle splashes of color, but never fussy or overbearing. Crisp, light and relaxed. Thank you Heather for bringing our attention to Mr. Robert’s work. You are a great online editor!
Ugh, what a perfect beach house -why am I not there?
You’re right! The weather here on the east coast has been terrible. We waited all winter…where is the sun!
The first shot – what a beautiful spread. Love the eating nook too!
LOVE the blue and white with the green viburnum in the first photo. That is a color combination that just does something for us!
Wonderful house, especially loved the antique (Nap. III) furnishings and the use of chintz in just the right places. The floor coverings are wonderful. As for the weather, please send it over to California–we need it.
Thanks.
wooow, these are truly beautiful homes. i’d love to have a home that romantic. it looks like blue, yellow and greenish yellow are the colors of this year, am i right? very pretty!
Hi Heather-
I’m so in tune with you. We had our company picnic yesterday here in Boston and we were wearing long pants and coats and scarves! The guys on the BBQ became VERY popular. Will this part of the country ever see some sun? Hold on a minute – I think I just heard thunder…
oh I like it so very much!!!!

This was a beautiful home, I loved the entry hall where the sisal rugs were stenciled with the stripes, and the textures grass cloth wallpaper was used as well. I great looking home, a great designer as well.

Is it raining everywhere – geez! I love this house. I am a fan of blue and have it in my own home. It is so fresh looking and soothing. Love it. Nice find!
Oh how I long for the sun! Longing for the extended outside recreational time… even if its just a quiet night on the patio with a glass of wine…
Hoping that the sun shines on us very soon… did enjoy your post!
I love this home. Its charming & classically clean which is a tough border to stand on.
You definitely need a long weekend here.
* Oh, YES! DITTO to everyone’s comments, ESPECIALLY about the rafia wall covering! DEEEEELIGHTFUL!
Thanks, Linda in AZ *
i love how the only “beachy” things about this house are the colors and some well-chosen accents…nothing kitschy or precious – just soothing and calm. gorgeous!
such great interiors! especially loving the raffia wallpaper and lantern in the second photo.
