Castle Crush

After seeing photos of Wijlre Castle in the Netherlands, I’m going to have to add a castle to my dream list of homes. The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful and very inspiring! The owners are avid art collectors and I’m sure it’s no coincidence that they made their home 12 miles outside of Maastricht, the site of the leading art and antiques fair TEFAF. The gardens incorporate many modern and contemporary sculptures and the couple have also built a gallery on the property where they hold exhibitions. Sounds like a dream life to go with a dream home!

    Hi Heather
If your in the market for a castle the Searles Castle in Great Barrington, Massachusetts is for sale. It’s only 15 million has 40 rooms, seven turrets and 36 fireplaces. Also it’s close to NYC:)

The Little Jewelry Box – I will be sure to check it out.

Cathy – glad you enjoyed it too!

Kristen – That place looks like it needs some work although I’m sure all castles for sale need some help which is why they are for sale in the first place. I’ll keep it in mind 😉

Amazing. The only problem with my buying this castle is that it rains a lot in Holland, I simply need to look for something a bit sunnier.
I wonder how much staff one needs to employ to maintain a castle?

Oh I love it! And is that a little chicken I spy? Will have to check out Searles Castle too. I admit, I have always had a yearning for a castle. Just not a damp or cold feeling one.

    Dreams are good….
I love the architecture and the courtyard. Reminds me of a French Chateau. Be-au-ti-ful!
    Have a nice weekend.

A friend of mine is selling his manor in England, if you are interested. Not as much upkeep as a castle.

The castle is very well laid out. The garden stands along side with the castle. The building has an established presence. As expected from a castle
