Check out the new December 2008 issue of American Vogue for beautiful photos by François Halard of Oscar and Annette de la Renta’s Connecticut home that had me double checking to make sure it wasn’t in England. “What is nice about a house in the country is that it’s the work of a lifetime. You see the evolution of your own life, in a way. You never finish,” says Oscar.

I love the crown molding intended architectural detail in the main focal point of the room – It leaves a lovely breathing space to the mirror.

In the age of bling, Oscar and Annette de la Renta are the antithesis; class. The room is gorgeous, understated, tasteful but ultimately comfortable and welcoming.

Annette de la Renta is reputed to be the woman with the most taste in America. Check out the Parish-Hadley book for her old house in Westchester County, when she was Annette Reed. Its rooms feel quite this.

Can you believe that’s just her bedroom alone?
