Living in Flanders

11 . 24 . 08I’ve been a bit obsessed with foreign design and interiors lately and my internet research led me to a beautiful book entitled Living in Flanders by Piet Swimberghe with photos by Jan Verlinde. It seems to be out of print so it would be worth keeping an eye out for a used copy. The architecture and interiors are stunning.

God that’s stunning! The colors and lighting are so ethereal. Thanks for sharing such a gem!
Just the photos are fantastic, even without the incredible interior design… I love love love the first one, so dreamy…
What’s actually stunning in Flanders is that you don’t have to look hard for this kind of places. Many restaurants or shops look nearly as gorgeous as the pics from this book…
It seems like Axel Vervoordt’s style is everywhere… Btw, regarding Vervoordt, there was a beautiful show curated by him in Paris until this month – “Academia”. He created a surprising mix of art from antiquity til contemporary art… You can see pics here: http://alaintruong.canalblog.com/tag/Axel%20Vervoordt

The photos are outstanding.
Gorgeous post!
I think in my past life, I must have lived there for I love it so. What stunning light. Brilliant photos.
Ah, that’s really how I remember Flanders, the cities of Antwerp, Brugge etc. And then the famous Jacques Brel music: Le Plat Pays..
Delicious, thanks!

Atleast a couple of the photos are from the Reubens house in Antwerp, I think – the dining room and courtyard.
absolutely love these photos!
I live in Flanders. When you need photographs, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
Bruges, Gent, Antwerp, Ieper are the places one needs to go to for the architecture and interiors.
When you like to see the church or places like the photograph with the 4 trees, you have to go to “bachten de kupe” , that’s an area in West Flanders.
