Domino magazine, John Derian and Bergdorf Goodman are three of my favorite things and tonight they all converged at the Domino hosted event at BG to launch John’s new furniture line! The party was packed to the gills with stylish New Yorkers and designers so it was hard to take photos but I managed a few. I was also finally able to meet some of the fabulous ladies behind Domino magazine in person including editor-in-chief Deborah Needleman who could not have been nicer! The whole team is beyond amazing including PR Director, Amy Peck, who is always so sweet to invite me to events.
John’s new line is based on some of his most cherished antiques and even though they are new, they have a wonderful vintage quality to them. But of course, I wouldn’t expect anything less than perfection from the man of the hour.

The 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman is a jewel box space filled with amazing home accessories including a huge display of John’s decoupage trays and paperweights.

The display of Astier de Villate was so beautiful that I wanted to buy every piece!

I was having a great time at the party but had to head home early to finish my first story for Domino!!! I pitched some ideas to the editors a few months ago and they actually like one of them so I got to write it! I’m very excited and can’t wait to see the finished product in the August issue. Until then, I will be pouring over the June/July issue that is full of the most amazing summer homes! I’m so ready for summer now! Thanks Domino!!!

Katie Lee Joel and her Nate Berkus designed home is on the cover and featured inside and I have to admit that I loved it…even if she did have to marry a man 32 years older than her to get it. Did I just say that out loud? Oh well, you know you were thinking it too!

    Miaow! 😉

Looking forward to my copy arriving eventually…it’s always a few weeks late. Wish I could head to NY again soon, I didn’t get a chance to visit BG last time and would love to!

Oh, lucky you! JD’s space at BG is such a treat. I can’t wait to see his new furniture line(!) up close. It just so happens that I need (yes, NEED) to buy one of JD’s Paradise Crocus plates for a best pal who’s coming to town this weekend. I planned to go downtown to his shop tomorrow, but now I might just make a shorter trip to BG.

Thanks for this great post. I’m so glad I dropped by tonight!

    A. JD’s pieces are beautiful, BG is around the corner, now I have a great reason to stop by.

    B. Can’t wait to read your article for Domino very exciting.

    C. You just made me soo excited to receive the new domino. I LOVE Katie Lee Joel. I agree, nothing would be hers if it wasn’t for her rich husband (especially her 40K+ closet!) Either way she is too cut, hints the cover.

    Thanks for the great post.

Love, love, love John Derian’s decoupage goodies. A pilgrimage to BG is in my future — perhaps this week!
Please don’t comment on KLJ without warning me first — I almost spat out my tea while reading your post. LOL!
    Ciao,

Suzy, OMG! BG is my all time favorite place in NYC! You will love the 7th floor home departments and the 5th floor full of younger designers like Phillip Lim, Milly, and Loeffler Randall.

My tour guide services are always available for you when finally visit!

Mujerluminosa, Hahahaha! I couldn’t help but mention the age thing. I always think about it when I see her, even though she seems very lovely.

Good to hear this is a good issue… wasn’t wild about last month’s. Very cool getting to attend designer event at BG. Don’t yell, but I’ve been to NYC three times and I have never been to BG… I will have to do that next time. I do make sure to go to Tiffany’s and always buy a little something.

Sounds like a fab party – you NYC socialite, you! And as for KLJ – she was born in 1982 – I sure she and the piano man have lots in common.
    not 😉

Layers of Meaning, Emily and Jane, Thanks! I think the section of my story idea doesn’t even give credit to the author! Too funny!

  21. Habitually Chic May 22, 2008 | 9:37 pm

Katie, I am definitely looking forward to the long weekend! I also think I would rather be written about than continue writing. It’s too exhausting!

bravo – and may you be habitually chic as a regular writing domino-atrix! just could not resist that one!

I just got the new Domino issue a few days ago. I loved it…BUT I am baffled by one thing. On page 110 we see Joel standing on one chair in her dining room organizing her shelves in a pose practically identical to the one on the cover. BUT the chairs and everything on the shelves is completely different!! Did you notice? It really bothers me. I understand that a few touch-ups here and there are very common when shooting houses (you know, the same flowers moving from room to room, etc.) but this is too much! What kind of chairs does she have? The brown ones of pgs 110-111 or the geometric ones of the cover?? I think this is an annoying oversight on Domino’s part…I’m a bit disappointed…

OMG! That was fantastic! (I would have said it out loud as well!) I just stumbled upon your blog…you are my kinda people 🙂 Tres Chic.
