Jacques Grange’s Palais-Royal Apartment
When I lived in Paris, I spent one of the three months living next to the Palais-Royal. I loved escaping the hustle and bustle of the city in the quiet garden inside surrounded by elegant boutiques and restaurants. Along the rue de Beaujolais and through the Passage du Perron is a plaque that says, Colette, at the edge of this garden, spent her last years. Interior designer Jacques Grange spends his current years living in her old apartment while quietly keeping her memory alive with a few special objects. Jacques was able to buy the apartment above and connect the two with a staircase that looks like a sculpture. All the rooms look collected rather decorated and are filled with pieces and art with meaning including a few things from his late friends Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé. It’s so chic that I’m sure Colette would approve.
