Habitually Chic Winter Dress
by habituallychic
11 . 08 . 07 It’s finally turned cold in New York so yesterday I broke out the boot and tights which I paired with my new Catherine Malandrino Rib Knit Dress. This dress garnered much attention and praise from the girls in the office so I thought why not share it with everyone. It really is the most perfect dress for winter to throw on and run out the door. I added my faux Van Cleef and Arpels necklace that I bought on the street and had the perfect day to evening outfit. I already warned my friends that I would probably be wearing this dress once a week from now until February so they should get used to seeing it!

Fabulous investment! Isn’t charcoal a brilliant colour?
I am also thoroughly enjoying bringing out the new Winter dresses with an array of tights (OMG, we have zero variety in Australia – I can never leave the States!) and boots.
Sometimes I just love being a girl!
Alice, I had a feeling you would like that dress. It’s actually a really pretty dark slate blue color. It is definitely my new favorite dress!
Don’t even get me started on tights! My favorites so far are Spanx and Wolford. Can’t go wrong with either brand.
Sometimes there really isn’t anything better to make you feel like a girl than wearing a great dress paired with tights and boots!
Love it – great choice.
Thanks Layler. I love that you can make the top of the dress into a cowl neck as well.
Yes, very chic indeed. It finally got cold here too – well for HK anyway – and much sooner than last year. I’ve been thinking about a new winter wardrobe all week…
this is exactly what ive been looking for. thank you! i love easy dressing in the winter. this looks perfect.
Now I want one! I am loving tights these days. Isn’t it crazy that we were running around with bare legs a few years back?
Marissa, it seriously is the most comfortable dress I have ever owned!
BA, I was also thinking back to when every chic girl in NYC spent all winter shivering in bare legs! I blame it on Elizabeth Saltzman Walker. She was the queen of bare legs.
I personally love tights just for the fact that I can wear shorter hemlines and not feel like I’m going to bend over and show everyone my knickers!
OK…give me a fashion update. What do the fashionable wear with dresses these days, if they do not go bare? Opaque tights? Or, are sheer hose allowable again? I am pathetically uninformed about what is current.
Things that Inspire,
Opaque tights are definitely the way to go! I LOVE Spanx tights. It doesn’t matter how skinny you are, everyone can benefit from a little control top action. They are also reasonably priced and wear well.
If you really want to splurge, Wolford are the Rolls Royce of the tights market. They run about $50 a pair but are perfect for special occassions and important functions. I wear those when I might be in the presence of anyone from Vogue. They also make Polar Tights for when the temperature drops dangerously low.
Hope this helps! If you ever have any other fashion questions, feel free to drop me a line!
Wow,this dress is really perfect! Thanks for sharing:)
Oh the dress is fabulous. This is just the look I’ve been searching for the past few weeks. Also, the Wolford tights are my favorite. You can’t go wrong with Wolford!
